Hi everyone! My name is Shan. I am a MFADT first year student.
I took this class because I like the "invisible" part of the design. Since I studied Industrial Design in my undergraduate school, the inside(software) of the products have always been mystical to me. I realized that in order to fully express myself through product design, I have to have more control of it. Physical computing bridges the gap between digital and analog design. And as I gear toward interactive design, it is crucial for me to be able to build things that are "alive".
My childhood favorite toys... are the miniature doll houses. I'm not sure if that's what it's called, but basically I love small things that mimic everything in life. And to be honest this passion is still with me. No wonder I became a fan of The Sims later in life. (Geez I've never consciously made this connection before!) I think acting through the characters (people, animals, teapots, etc.) gave me the opportunity to experience the world in different perspectives.
