Wow. Toy Far was huge. My overall reaction was that it was somewhat depressing to see all of the plastic toys that are likely to end up in landfills after being played with a handful of times. The most exciting thing I saw was the IDENT Technology AG talk about the Ultra Low Power Proximity System. This technology will allow for incredible levels of control and could reduce battery waste in the toy market. The demonstration of some of the applications for the technology seemed magical. I'd love to get my hands on one of these.
One of the toys that stood out was the Timberkits models. These are sets of wooden pieces that can be assembled into small automata. I would have loved one of these kits as a kid. They would be much cooler if they were more universal, sold in larger kits, and allowed for more creativity for child builders.
Finally, I appreciated the action figures made by the Kridana company. These toys are based on the heros of Indian epic legends. I enjoyed the overall look of these toys. I especially appreciated the Hanuman figure pictured below.
