On Friday I received the RFID Reader from Sparkfun. Having the Arduino Mini, the Mini USB Adapter and the Reader, I started to figure out how to connect the three components together.
The first step was to connect the Arduino Mini with the Mini USB Adapter.
After these steps, I finally got into business with the ID-12 Reader. Since it's pins are so close together, 2 mm, I bought a Breakout Board from Sparkfun. This board will bring the 2mm spaced pins out to two 0.1" spaced headers. This way, the Reader can be plugged into a Breadboard for prototyping.
The ID-12 read one item at a time. I added a RESET button to the circuit to make possible more readings, one at a time of course.
Another thing that needs to be added, is a toggle switch to turn off the RX pin. This pin need to be switched off before uploading any program to the Arduino board to prevent any disturbance.
