Hi. My name is Matt. My undergraduate focus was in film, with a minor in graphic design. During this time, I was also a part of a highly-intensive great books honors program. After graduating, I was a professional musician for 3 years. When this ended, I became a substitute teacher and freelance web designer. After working a few years independently, I decided that a terminal degree would be an excellent way to a) further my career and b) pave the way for a graduate-level teaching position. I have always loved learning, and have found this program to be a very fulfilling and challenging endeavor.
I am very interested in the nuts and bolts of interactivity. Working so long with web design, screen-based interactions are less mysterious, and, furthermore, I feel that the way we interact with machines needs to be improved. The simple monitor and keyboard solution can be greatly enhanced (or changed all-together), and it is up to the next generation of designers to re-investigate this problem and design for the future.
Goals for this class
To have a better understanding of the physical working of computers
To enhance my electronics skills
To focus my attention on the core issues regarding interactivity
To learn everything I can about computation M
