background:
I am a fine
artist, budding digital designer and idea maker.
I've lived in Arizona for
14 years ~ just moved to Brooklyn this Sept 07.
I love the desert and will return again someday.
creatively:
I am most inspired by circles + agave plant.
My one word aspiration is refinement.
I am a sculptor and inventor.
I like making and building beautiful things that evoke curiosity and wonder.
professionally:
I have done many jobs while developing my creativity.
Most recently I was member of a co-op gallery space 515arts.com worked 3/4 time at public library in PHX.
Before that I had an apprenticeship with a clothing designer in SF for 9 months latifadesign.com
My goal is to have more marketable creative skills after the MFADT program.
I am interested in designs about the future that ask probing questions, especially some recent RCA projects.
academically:
BA in Fine Art (Textiles/Sculpture) from Prescott College in Arizona, 2002.
I have studied meditation for years with the Clairvision school. clairvision.org
reasons I took computation:
This is my weakest area - I know very little code/computing.
I like challenges.
You have a good reputation as a teacher.
I am inspired by Messa di Voce creation/program of Zack Leiberman.
Data visualization interests me.
what I would like to get out of computation:
to be able to think more rationally and less emotionally about my creative work.
to be able to present clearly and professionally.
a strong final project for my portfolio that explores my thesis direction & ideas.
insightful feedback and suggestions.
to play and learn and feel engaged.
why Parsons:
I
am combining my fine art skills with current technology advances and
this program fits both, although it has a much stronger design focus
than a fine art perspective.
I want to attend school in NYC and make connections and contacts here.
I almost came in 1999, I interviewed here at Parsons for bachelor
in Fashion Design but I chose to stay in AZ and focus on Fine Art.
