This is a plush toys with big feet, which I think is awesome, they have a whole line of crazy animals with big feet, endless possibilities

Some Plush designs that I like... and My Disassembled toy

1. Artists Amanda and Michelle posted this girl-controlling-a-robot plush on their blog.

And also on their web-site.

2.The vinyl version of the simple yet very cool looking Wee Ninja, designed by Shan Smith.

3. The Beat-up Boris plush with a broken arm...

Boris

made by PureEva is on sale here

and on flickr here

The same designer also made a cool  plush Crazy KittenCrazy_cat

which I think is pretty amazing looking.

As for my disassembled toy, I used a opened up a pretty simple Bed-time Jojo plush...
All of the images on a flickr set
and some over here;

1_5 Bedtime Jojo is suppose to help kid go to bed.
It is a simple interactive toy that kids might now from Disney’s Circus. Two switches are activating a sound-chip to play phrases in random mode.

1. Mr TTT Burger by Friends With You
I own and love this little guy. His burger layers come apart and you can see that they are separate characters, which is a great detail. Plus his face is priceless with those little teeth.

Rainbowcapsule
2. Big Rainbow Capsule by DOMA
A rainbow, huge happy smile, and another plush with separate parts! I regret not buying this earlier because it seems to be sold out everywhere now. You can take the plastic dome apart from his plush body, and also open it to get a better look at the rainbow and house inside! Take a look at their site, all their toys are great (especially Gordo Boka!)

Klong
3. Klong by Simon Henwood
He doesn't look like much, but wrap his arms around your shoulders and you'll know why he is in my top 3. His limbs have weight to them that make you feel that he is hugging you back. It feels really comforting, and for me that makes up for the fact that he doesn't have a cute face like my first two picks.

Socky Bunny

This is a very simple but also very nice "Socky Bunny". I like it because it is very easy to make and very cheap too. you do not need to buy not even the fabrics.

1. USB Bear & Mimico USB Glow Ghost

I like toys that are functional but still cute and playful. I like this idea of the USB teddy but I agree with Engadget's post, "USB Teddy Bear Holds Data , Scare Children. It looks like teddy's head is stuck in the computer! It's also a little big for a drive that supposed to be portable. This other USB drive, Glow Ghost, made by Mimico is a better solution but it's not plush. Check out their mimobot series of designer USB flash drives.

USB drive that glows in the dark.

2. Labbit by Frank Kozik

Based on Kozik's smorkin' rabbit, he has come out with non-smorkin' rabbits that have different accessories to interchange. These are made of soft vinyl. I like how these are Mr. Potatohead-ish and there are accessories to play with.

3. Maffy Plush by Devilrobots

I like characters that have simple characteristics with big eyes and a big head similiar to the style of Yoshimoto Nara. Yoshimoto_1

Patterns

1. Felt Cakes
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=26836.0/

I like this pattern because of it's simplicity. What was really interesting to me was the the cream puff and how it is made up of flat pieces and sewn together to make a three dimensional piece.

Tada! The felt cake.

2. Panda

This pattern requires few pieces and is also simple.

One angry thing from this site.

Orange_butch2

Ferocious carnivores of the fluffy kind
have always heartily appreciated.
Simple design, yet it conveys so much.

The evil fluffiness below was found here.
It is Little Bunny Foo Foo.

The brown thing is Sargg. From a most prolific craftshop.

He is not evil though, looks rather sad
and is made of socks.

Sargg_1

Ok, so animal patterns:

I like pandas.
And dogs.

But I want a fuzzy sock monster most of all.
Must be improvised I guess!

INSPIRATIONAL

OK, I tried to narrow it down to three here, but I ended up with four. These are all really great. I know these aren't necessarily for kids, but I have been thinking about how plastic and cheery kids toy and cartoon characters seem to be these days. I love seeing dolls that are ugly or strange. I think that this kind of design shows much more depth of character and a creates a more interesting toy to play with.

1. The Vang

http://www.biggerkrissy.com/critters/thevang.html

Description: He's out there. His neck is warm.                                       His head is a different fur from the rest                                       of his body. His powers are just lying in                                       wait. Are you intrigued?

2. Tampon Doll

http://www.mypapercrane.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_17&products_id=1

I love that this is described as "not for children". I also love the idea of a doll character being based on something you would never think to anthropomorphize. They're cuddly tampons with eyes...what more can I say?

4. Cat

I love cats. I especially love weird stuffed Picasso-lookin' cats.

INSTRUCTIONAL

1. Teddy Bear Remote Control

http://www.instructables.com/id/EL0G8VV5SCEP287EMT/
So we saw this in class when Yury was showing us Instructables and Make magazine, but I really dig this bear. I'm thinking about making a plush iPod Monster for the first project, and this tutorial could be very useful. Plus, I think he's cute and well-designed.

Insipirational Toys

Toys that inspire and keep me amused still, I dont know why, but they do.

The Ugly Doll - so ugly and cute at the same time. how can you not like it?

Labbit, all it wants to do is smoke, is that asking for so much?

Murakami - Frazzled Kiki
Murakami is a Japanese designer who creations appear childish in nature but are also violent and sexual as well. He is best known for his work with Louis Vitton. I actually have this plush toy. I think he scares away everyone with his smile.

Doraemon(in Japan) aka DingDong (hong kong and china) based on a popular anime. Think charlie brown but even sadder if that were even possible. but in the anime DingDong is a robotic cat, yes he's a cat, he has a propeller that enables him to fly. he's from a different dimension, he's a cat afraid of mice, and one day the mice came and scared him and bit off his ears, then he cried for days and he turned blue. which is why he's a robotic blue cat with no ears. and his pouch is magical. stop laughing!

Lamaze Octotunes - this toy is for babies and kids well for everyone. my friend's baby has one and she loves this thing, she loves to squeeze it and make sounds. i run into the store to play with it. and it's the Winner of the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Award and National Parenting Publication's Gold Medal. Education toy as well!

What's Happening Here

  • This blog documents the work of students in two separate Parsons classes and departments. MAKING WIRELESS PLUSH TOYS designs, sews, and solders interactive soft toys. MAKING WIRELESS PLUSH TOYS is a class in the CDT department, Communication Design Technology. TOY CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT AND DESIGN deals with the fundamentals of ideation, development and design. TOY CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT AND DESIGN is a class in the Illustration Department. These are two separate classes that take place in two separate departments and have two separate groups of students. The Professors decided to create one blog for the class to help promote the cross-fertilization of ideas and warm fuzzy feelings between departments.
